commitment to the bit
so i finally decided to commit to what i'm doing creatively somewhat and get my own domain and site sorted properly (https://ilovetoxicwaste.net is the full site, this one just sits under it). i'm working full time also, not in a creative job, but it's what i want to be doing at this time in my life. so now that i am earning money on the reg i can use the (admittedly little) spare time i have that's no longer taken up by endless assignments to work on things. the current list is:
- get love and dove update sorted
- work on narrative game
- learn godot
the love and dove update has been in limbo for a while, but with the english ghost forums now existing i really need to take advantage of it and get help with some bugfixes and also meet other people developing ghosts (id like to find more people in sydney doing it but chances are slim i guess). it's nothing fancy mostly just a dialogue update - adding some more and changing some things to match their updated lore. plus some new shells from the lovely artist :)
the second and third items are mostly related as i'm currently working on a narrative game that i want to be short and sweet - basically just an attempt at actually making myself finish a full game, and not yet another throwaway mini-thing (but throwaway mini-things are fun to make too). hopefully around 2 hours of gameplay? i'll describe it as this:
two officeworkers are doing some late-night overtime when they mysteriously find themselves whisked away into another dimension that's ruled by an evil goddess. they have to fight their way through living skeletons and demonic creatures in spooky forests and creepy caves in order to retrieve the one crystal that can open the portal and set them free - if the goddess doesn't destroy it first.
it has some yuri elements too as all the characters are women. i'm hoping to get fun and experimental with the gameplay and look. it's mostly inspired by 80s movies. i'm still tossing up on the use of the word "dimension" as the last thing i need is to give it any "multiverse" type vibes 😒 (bayonetta 3 trauma). anyway that's where i'm at right now, i'm motivated currently so lets ride the wave and actually get stuff done.
